Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” are part of his larger Op. 8, comprising a total of twelve concerti and entitled as a whole “The Contest Between Harmony and Invention.”
Each of “The Four Seasons” was written to correspond with a sonnet; though these poems have been lost, it is thought that they were mostly likely written by Vivaldi himself.
